Radio: An Illustrated Guide

Radio: An Illustrated Guide is an interesting depiction as to how to produce a good radio story. The guide was cute and funny while providing helpful tips for conducting a successful interview. Each host had their own unique personality and approach to recording depicted with the illustrations. The guide gave some honest advice when Ira went into how not every interesting story is going to necessarily work or be good for radio. There has to be some deeper meaning or connection to something else. It really made me rethink the types of stories I want to tell.

The section about editing and writing a transcript was really helpful. It made me rethink my whole planning process. Ira emphasized knowing where to want to take the story before you even record. You have to decide what you want to include but leave room for unexpected stories. Everyone has there own way of editing but I think trying out different methods is helpful. My personal philosophy on editing is whatever gets the job done and the job done well is fine by me.
